Creating unique content for every platform is a trap. You'll burn out in two weeks. Instead, create one strong piece of content and adapt it for each platform.
## The repurposing framework
Start with your best-performing content format and work outward:
### Start with a long-form piece
This could be a YouTube video, a blog post, or a detailed Instagram carousel. This is your "pillar" content — the deepest version of the idea.
### Extract for Instagram
- Turn the key points into a carousel (5-7 slides)
- Pull the best quote for a static post
- Create a 30-second Reel summarizing the main takeaway
- Use the topic for 3-5 stories with polls and questions
### Adapt for Facebook
- Post the full text version with an image
- Share a shorter video clip (1-2 minutes)
- Create a discussion post asking for opinions on the topic
### Optimize for Pinterest
- Design a vertical infographic with the key steps
- Create 3-5 pin variations with different headlines
- Link back to the full blog post or video
### Clip for YouTube Shorts
- Extract the most compelling 30-60 seconds
- Add captions (most people watch without sound)
- Use a hook in the first 2 seconds
## The key rule
Each platform version should feel native. Don't just copy-paste the same caption everywhere. Adjust the tone, length, and format to match how people consume content on each platform.
A carousel on Instagram should look like it was made for Instagram. A pin on Pinterest should look like it was made for Pinterest. Same idea, different packaging.
Stop planning. Start posting.
